A deliberately small practice of senior people

Senior people lead every engagement and stay on it. No layers between you and the people doing the work. It is also how alignment survives: the people who built the agreement are the people who see it through.

Sage began in 2019 and was incorporated as a company in 2021, on a simple premise: that the regulated systems people depend on, for their care, their money, and their safety, deserve advice that reconciles competing interests rather than serving one of them.

Across our careers we have led enterprise transformation spanning financial services, federal and state government reform, airlines, aged care, and social services, including national reform in carer support. We bring that depth to a focused number of engagements at a time, which is how we keep senior people on every piece of work.

Human services is our deepest specialism, grounded in biopsychosocial models of health and wellbeing. We are an NHMRC Eligible Organisation, can lead research-grade work in our own right, and partner with universities and tertiary institutions to translate their research into action that holds up in practice.

A small core, a deep network

We keep our core team small on purpose, and extend it through a trusted network of specialists, associates, and delivery partners. It lets us bring exactly the right mix of skills to your problem without a large firms overheads, and scale up to deliver when the work calls for it.

Delivery partners

When work needs to be delivered, not just designed, we partner to take it all the way through.

Research partners

We work alongside universities and tertiary institutes to translate research into action.

Specialist associates

We bring in deep expertise for the problem in front of us, rather than keeping a fixed bench busy.

Understand, reconcile, build to last

A way of working, not a methodology looking for a problem

0 1

Understand

We start with your context, your evidence, and every party’s real interest.

0 3

Reconcile

We find the configuration where the objectives fit, and design it.

0 2

Synthesis

We bring research, data, and frontline reality into one clear, shared picture.

0 4

Enable

We build the tools and capability that let the alignment hold after we leave.

Stakes this high deserve a high standard

A clever idea that only one party can accept is a liability, not an asset.

We decline work where we cannot meet the standard we set ourselves. We are transparent about our methods and our evidence. And we use modern tools, including AI, to work faster and see further, without letting them decide. People remain accountable for every recommendation we make

Our guiding principles

How we behave on an engagement, learned from years of doing this work and watching where it goes wrong.

We meet you where you are

We do not push expensive investment when a simpler answer will do. Like a good suit, one size does not fit all, so we adapt the approach and the tools to suit.

We respect the past

Earlier decisions were usually made with the right intent at the time. We take them in context, then focus on the road ahead.

We scout the road

When taking the work forward needs a decision, we lay out the options and the trade-offs, so you can choose with your eyes open.

We know we are guests

No one knows your organisation better than you. We give frank, fearless advice, and we respect that the accountability and the decisions are yours.

We aim for action, not shelf ware

A clever report no one acts on is an expensive book on a shelf. We design for what you do next, and leave you the tools and guidance to do it.

It is not a contract, it is a relationship

We work in partnership, and we are there for clients between engagements too, as a sounding board or for a piece of advice.
